Checking Reservations
Before you try to reserve any books, if possible you should look at the current
reservations list and the list of completed titles. Not only can you see what
has been done, you might get ideas from some of the books listed for other books
to index. These lists can be found in the
Documents section of the
web site, and you can always request the latest up-to-date lists from the
Coordinators.
The listings are organized by publisher, then alphabetically by title. In the reservations list, the name of the indexer who has the title reserved is included as well as the month the reservation was last checked. After each GCD distribution is released, Matthias checks the reservations that are at least six months old and still unfinished to make sure you are still interested in doing the title. This doesn't mean you have to have it done in six months, just that you need to keep "freshening" your titles if you don't get around to them.
Matthias posts a list of old reservations, as well as the current reservations list, to the main GCD mailing list on a regular basis. Every indexer should be subscribed to keep up with the latest news.
