Figured this would fit our space-fairing theme here at the Zone. I'm not really big into these things by any means, but I do have several from the bigger licenses over the years. Most recently, the Titanium Series line of toys was actually derivative of Hasbro's acquisition of the Micro Machines brand back in 2006.
The only newer pieces in the line that I've picked up are some from the Indiana Jones line, which I love. I actually don't have the full set, as the later stuff is notoriously tough to find due to the license’s cancellation.

Then of course, there is the Star Wars stuff. Star Wars Micro Machines are still available under the “Titanium Series” brand, but the real collectible pieces from the Galoob Micro Machine’s banner, before the sale to Hasbro. These were great models and featured a wide array of ships from the movies. I actually only stumbled upon a few of these in a lot that I bought a while back. I lucked out and landed a Falcon in that lot, which of course is the best looking Star Wars ship in that line.

But what really got me into these things are the Star Trek ships. I love Star Trek – not so much that I’m a huge “Trekkie”, but I’ve always liked the shows. The Micro Machines are a great, high quality and detailed option over buying the bigger toy ships that are released with each movie event. Here are some snap shots of a few Trek Micro Machines, which ended around the time of Star Trek Voyager (unfortunately):

You wouldn’t believe how expensive some of these are on the secondary market. The Enterprise-E was a exclusive to the last boxed Collector’s Set (which featured approx. 13 ships) and sells by itself for upwards of 75 bucks, and Voyager is another hot ship from that boxed set which I’ve seen sell from anywhere between 35 and 60 bucks online.
Many of these ships were also released in some kind of special repainted editions (Silver or Bronze) and a few of them actually look better in that Silver/Pewter paint scheme! Here’s a shot of the some of the pricier, numbered Collector Edition sets.

There’s a real demand for certain Micro Machines – especially the Star Trek stuff. It’d be great if we got more scaled ships from the new movie, but with the Micro Machines brand being absorbed into the Titanium Series stuff, I’m not holding my breath.
Something may be released – but it won’t be the same as these vintage Licensed Galoob Micro-Machines.
